Our Freedoms Slipping Away Year by Year

It is a sad day in America as this regime I mean this administration chips away at our economic freedom not to mention our civil liberties and individual freedoms through the regulation purgatory progressives love to embrace.

The latter they do in the guise of our safety and protection (code for social engineering) while just increasing their own POWER and CONTROL.

As for our economic freedom, yet again America has dropped another place in the world as we are now 10th on the Economic Index of Freedom.

At the Washington Examiner a poignant article by their editorial staff entitled:

"Freedom fading in US as Obama disses Constitution"

"Every Year that Barack Obama has occupied the Oval Office, the United States has fallen lower in the Economic Index of Freedom complied by the Heritage Foundation and the Wall Street Journal. America was fifth in the ranking in 2008 (surpassed only by Hong Kong, Singapore, Ireland, and Australia), then dropped to sixth in 2009, eighth in 2010, ninth last year and now 10th. The index measures, according to its authors, 10 categories of economic freedom: labor, business, trade, fiscal responsibility, government spending, monetary policy, investment, financial regulation, property rights, and absence of corruption.  Scores are averaged to create an overall score for each of all 184 nations."

"Unfortunately, because so many other nations have followed approaches similar to the failed policies Obama has stubbornly refused to abandon in the US (most notably, 31 of the 43 European nations), America was far from the only country in which economic freedom declined in the 2012 index.  As the editors noted " rapid expansion of government, more than any other market factor, appears responsible for the flagging economic dynamism.  Government spending has not only failed to arrest the economic crisis, but also - in many countries - seems to be prolonging it. The big-government approach has led to bloated public debt, turning an economic slowdown into a fiscal crisis with economic stagnation fueling long-term unemployment."

For progressives it is all about POWER and CONTROL not what is best for the country and certainly not following their Constitutional mandate.

It has been over 1000 days and we have yet to see a budget from Obumbler or the Congress which is mandated by the Constitution and all but ignored by this regime.

Rahm said it best "never let a good crisis go to waste" and by keeping us in a constant state of crisis and political upheaval Obumbler and his minions just continue to do just as they please in their efforts to "fundamentally transform America".

We have seen the chaos and uncertainty exhibited by the European Union as their progressive policies have failed under the weight of unsustainable entitlements and promises they can longer keep.

Yet our dear leader continues to try and push us down that same unsustainable path.

With all the hard evidence and facts surrounding their imminent demise one has to wonder what is Obumbler's real agenda or is he such an ideologue blinded to the reality of the situation?

"At the root of the spending and regulatory explosion under Obama - and the resulting decline in US economic freedom - is his obvious disdain for the Constitution's limits on the executive branch power.  The most recent manifestation of that disdain was Obama's illegal "recess" appointments of Richard Cordray to head the Consumer Finance Protection Board and the three new members of the National Labor Relations Board.  The Constitution says the president can only make such appointments when Congress is in recess; the Senate undeniably was not in recess when these appointments were made."

The huge irony and hypocrisy is that while Obumbler blamed the Republicans it was the DemoRats under Bush that enacted the very same rule changes to thwart Bush's appointments.

The unmitigated gall of this regime knows NO BOUNDS.

Obumbler's blatant disregard of the Constitution and his remarks that it is "a charter of negative liberties. It says what the states can't do to you. Says what the Federal government can't do to you but doesn't say what the Federal government or State governments must do on your behave."

This is an obvious ploy toward his policy of "redistributive change"

Let's just spread the misery equally to everyone.

Folks this is not the vision of our Republic the Founders intended.
This is the idea of a democratic entitlement NANNY STATE which as we have seen has failed miserably in Europe and elsewhere.

Again the BIG PROGRESSIVE LIE is that the government is only here to help us protect us from EVIL corporations and EVIL people like conservatives and of course because progressives are all so smart and believe in science (code for "social engineering") protect us from ourselves because they know what is best for everyone.

Of couse at a HUGE cost to our freedoms and liberties.
Witness our downgrading in the Economic Index of Freedom.
Keynesian economics DOES NOT WORK.
Central planning DOES NOT WORK.
Collectivism DOES NOT WORK.
Socialism DOES NOT WORK.
Communism DOES NOT WORK.
A pure democracy DOES NOT WORK.
A entitlement Nanny State DOES NOT WORK.
The Obama administration DOES NOT WORK ON OUR BEHALF.

Good post. I read that article and it made me sick to realize that Obama is merely the end product of 75 years of liberal corruption.
