The proverbial "race card" is the never ending "go to" for progressives/liberals/socialists/communists/unions and the left in general.
I do not know about you folks but I am so so tired of being called a racists by a bunch of hypocrites.
When ever they are overwhelmed by conservatives (for example the Tea Parties last summer) suddenly regular folks of all ages are a bunch of old white racists as progressives try to divert and change attention away from their failed policies.
And it would seem that almost every day some one from the left is calling the kettle black.
I do not understand why no one is exposing the real history of progressives/democrats that they surely do not want you to know on a daily basis until they apologize.
Every time they play the race card or call someone a racist the person or organization should proclaim the real history and expose their hypocrisy again and again until everyone knows the truth.
The reality is that minorities are usually faith based, family oriented cultures who's values more strongly align with conservative/libertarian values than those of progressives/liberals.
Democrats through entitlements have tried and in some cases succeeded in co-opting these groups with their goodies which only corrupt and destroy the fabric of their cultures.
It is amazing that these groups buy into the obvious lies and corruption of entitlements which are destroying the fabric of their cultures never considering that the republicans want to help FREE them ECONOMICALLY not ENSLAVE them.
And of course these goodies are the basis of the ability of progressives/democrats to shift the "race card" to republicans convincing some that they are heartless because they are against entitlements ergo against women, blacks, hispanics, and illegals.
THE REAL HISTORY:
It was DEMOCRATS that institutionalized slavery. On Nov 13, 1820 , the Democrat Party passes the Missouri Compromise, institutionalized slavery.
It was Democrats that supported the Kansas Nebraska Act of 1854 which expanded slavery.
It was Democrats that supported and backed the Dred Scott Decision of 1857 which completely denounced blacks of having any constitutional rights.
It was DEMOCRATS who commissioned medical professionals to proclaim that "excessive amounts of carbon in the bodies of blacks" was the reason for their skin color and inferiority. (and they still have a problem with the benign element Carbon)
It was DEMOCRATS that did not like the 1860 election of abolitionist REPUBLICAN Lincoln.
It was DEMOCRATS that seceded from the Union before he was even sworn in. On December 20th, 1860, South Carolina held a secession convention in Charleston and was the first state to secede the Union.
It was DEMOCRATS that formed their own army, the KKK. REPUBLICANS were hanged by the hundreds right alongside blacks, usually in the same tree.
An estimated 3,446 blacks and 1,297 whites died at the end of KKK ropes from 1882 to 1964.
It was DEMOCRATS that set up Jim Crow laws in the South to further subjugate the blacks.
It was DEMOCRAT President Wilson that conducted several private screening in the White House of the film "Birth of A Nation" in 1915, the most savage racist product I have ever heard of.
It was also DEMOCRAT President Wilson that so admired the Progressive movement's Margret Sanger's who started Planned Parenthood (Hiliary Clintons idol) eugenics research (number of black babies aborted far exceeds those of other demographics) In 2009 Planned Parenthood murdered 322 THOUSAND babies.
WHERE is the MORAL OUTRAGE from the LEFT?
It was also DEMOCRAT President Wilson that re-segregated the military after it had been fully integrated by the Republicans in the 1870s.
It was DEMOCRATS that fawned all over Hitler, and his National Socialist Democrat Party and prevented the US from preparing for WW2.
Not unlike their fawning about China today.
It was DEMOCRATS that blocked three attempts during the Eisenhower Administration for comprehensive civil-rights legislation.
It was DEMOCRATS that blocked the doors to black school children in Topeka, Little Rock, Montgomery and elsewhere.
It was DEMOCRATS Bull Conner and George Wallace that loosed the fire hoses. It was REPUBLICAN Eisenhower that sent Federal troops to stop DEMOCRATS ONLY with the force of arms!
It is DEMOCRATS that encourage black voters with handouts of welfare and other entitlements - the plantation mentality is enhanced and continued.
So spread the word - next time you hear this hypocrisy being spread by progressives - educate them on their true history and demand an apology.
The list goes on and on for a comprehensive list that follows chronologically into the 1960's and beyond go to:

Money - Money who has the money? OooooPs 6.5 BILLION gone?
Last week while every one was transfixed on the end of the Weiner the other hand was busy at work and several interesting stories went largely unnoticed.
One in particular that caught my eye was the latest big government debacle proving once again that the government can not do ANYTHING correctly has hard as they may try and even that is debatable in the meantime.
It seems the Social Security Administration has misplaced, gave away, or overpaid 6.5 BILLION $'s of our tax money in 2009, including $4 BILLION under a supplemental income program for the very poor, and one can only IMAGINE how much more went astray or was overpaid in the subsequent years of 2010 and today in 2011????
The inspector general for Social Security Patrick P. O"Carroll Jr. said in all about 10% of the payments made by the agency's Supplemental Security Income program were IMPROPER as the program has strict limits on income and assets and most of the overpayments went to people who did not report all their resources (nice way of saying they lied and cheated).
And surprise surprise there were 1.5 BILLION $'s in underpayments too for a GRAND total of 8 BILLION $"s worth of government errors in Social Security in 2009.
But wait it gets better and better throughout the whole federal government improper payments totaled 125 BILLION $'s last year up from 110 BILLION $'s in 2009.
In 2009 the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Labor both had MORE improper payments than Social Security according to O'Carroll.
So it would appear that cronyism, fraud and corruption are a staple and on the rise in the "most transparent" administration of all time.
Where is the coward Attorney General Holder?
This is typical progressive/liberal activity of robbing the bank while in power and nobody is looking.
On top of the outrageousness of the situation these are the very people who think they can run the HEALTH CARE SYSTEM...........what a joke!!!
Progressivism = Totalitarianism
Folks this is just further proof that the federal government is out of control and NEEDS to be LIMITED to it's constitutional authority only and leave the STATES alone.
The federal government needs to get over itself and get real remembering who the BOSS is or face the consequences of their actions.
Both Democrats and Republicans are guilty of over spending need to put the COUNTRY first and stop the insanity in Washington.
It is NO WONDER the country is BROKE and going down the tubes.
Thanks to Stephen Ohlemacher of the AP for his article on this subject.

Burnt Weenie Sandwich
You have to love Frank Zappa!
His album title from 1970 seems very appropriate and timely in leu of the whole Anthony Weiner affair.
Finally he is GONE god knows why he took this long to resign when we all knew he was lying from the start.
It was obvious from the beginning he was lying.
He made no effort to get authorities involved that was the first clue.
The arrogant and combative yet vague nature of the press conferences he requested was the second clue.
His attempted try at deflection of the blame to Andrew Breitbart was the third clue.
I find it simply amazing the brazen balls this little loud mouth twit can muster.
How many times did he stand in front of Congress (being the attack dog for the progressives) bellowing loudly denouncing Republican efforts or slandering private citizens like Glenn Beck over gold speculation (which Glenn was right it has increased 40% since his attack).
Worse still and few have commented was the predatory nature of his indiscretions as he forced his sexual innuendoes on these unsuspecting women.
He is just a creep with political cover.
It came out that he tweeted he viewed himself with a mask and cape a "super hero" fighting the evil Republicans and fighting for the poor serfs (convenient that demoRats keep them serfs) he is supposed to serve.
This guy has serious "pathological altruism" issues coupled with a huge EGO and the progressive mindset that no matter what he does or says he is justified because after all he is on the correct side of the argument and one of the progressive club who would come to his rescue.
How many times did he stare in the camera and with straight face pathologically lie about the whole affair.
But be that as it may for at least 10 days progressives/liberals tried to defend, rationalize, and excuse his abhorrent behavior.
Everyone and everything except Weiner was to blame.
Progressives never take responsibility for their words and deeds.
They always rationalize an out for themselves.
It was not the phone sex, cyber sex, contact with under age girls, or the BAD pictures.
IT WAS THE BOLD FACE LYING.
They just do not seem to get it - LYING is BAD, not morally acceptable.
How could anyone believe any thing he ever says again or take him seriously for that matter.
But then as fate would have it the really damning pictures and recipients came forward and Weiner's lies got bigger and bigger as his anatomical parts shriveled even smaller.
As he finally left we learned he has NO law license or any other discernible skills to fall back on in fact he was just a political hack lifer stemming from his days as Chuckie's lackey.
We learned he has a little over 5 million dollars raised for his run for mayor.
Given his love of the oppressed people, the middle class little guys he can by law donate that money to charity.
He should donate it to the charities in his district that he embarrassed by his BAD behavior.
Every time he whored himself in front of the media I thought less and less of him only to have my impressions and intuitive feelings confirmed as my dislike grew.
It is often that those who scream the loudest fall the hardest being the biggest hypocrites.
GOOD RIDDANCE - Congress will hopefully be a little better place in his absence.

Progressivism - Hypocrisy, Unintended Consequences, and Pathological Altruism
Progressives are driven by a need for progress for a supposed better future.
But what is the better future they are advocating for?
This is never explained or articulated only left in nebulous terms (why commit?).
I would contend that most progressives have honest good intentions when approaching problems or looking for answers but unfortunately this striving for "good" instead of just living it by example has become a kind of sickness "pathological altruism" which allows the ends to be justified by any means.
path.o.log.i.cal (adjective)
1. of or pertaining to pathology
2. caused by or involving disease; morbid
3. caused by or evidencing a mentally disturbed condition: a pathological liar
al.tru.ism (noun)
1. the principle or practice of unselfish concern or devotion to the welfare of others
This unintended consequence of wanting to do "good" becomes pathological which often manifests itself in a negative way some times in an evil way as seen through out history.
For progressives doing "good" means they can say and do as they please because they have morality and "good" on their side.
Since the ends justify the means progressives will always leave room to maneuver when brought under a critical eye and made to answer for their indiscretions and hypocrisies with a mob mentality.
One HUGE progressive hypocrisy which literally sticks in my throat is our recent fore ray into Libya need I say our 3rd war for supposedly humanitarian grounds to save the poor innocent people form genocide who just want dignity and freedom.
Besides the absence of our anti-war movement which crucified Bush in the press (he at least told congress and did not just ignore them) the larger picture hypocrisy for me is a moral one.
Let me preface this by saying I believe a persons body is his or hers to use or abuse free will - free choice.
My moral dilemma is the hypocrisy of progressives supporting an illegal act of war by this president killing innocents and Gadhafi supporters alike yet railing against Republicans for wanting to cut off funds to the Planned Parenthood MURDER machine which kills over 300 THOUSAND babies a year.
Where is all the MORAL outrage at the killing of all those innocents?
Tax payers should NOT have to contribute to any form of genocide.
Progressives strive to find a "one size fits all" solution to our societal problems but this has never in all of history worked because we are all individuals (go figure) and BIG GOVERNMENT collectivists solutions besides taking away our freedoms and liberties have other unintended consequences their authors never see coming.
Perhaps they are not as smart as they think.
And often the so-called "science" or "social science" used to justify these actions and choices come from hermetic out of touch academics with no bearing on reality.
That is why I have maintained that Cass Sunstein author of "Nudge" and Regulatory Czar is one of the most dangerous people in our government.
One overwhelming example of big government ineptness and the resulting calamity would be when President Johnson enacted the "war on poverty" with the noble idea to end poverty through prosperity for the poor and a compassionate government.
On the surface this all seems like the right thing to do if the government central planners had a real solution.
After decades and poverty program after poverty program and TRILLIONS and TRILLIONS of dollars some 12% of our population is still below the governmental poverty line after 40 years of GOOD INTENTIONS.
I maintain this has had the unintended consequences of holding this portion of society back from freeing themselves economically.
Whites and blacks both have been affected adversely by these policies in different ways because welfare became a business no one can easily walk away from producing in effect a serf class that is beholding to their political masters.
Another unintended consequence of welfare was to help with the disintegration or the breaking up of the black family that spurred the rise of illegitimacy.
In the 1940's illegitimacy among blacks was 14% today it is 72% almost 73% a huge increase.
Racism is not the problem the big government is.
You tell me have welfare entitlement programs worked or helped in any way?
Not to mention the very successful "war on drugs" more big government meddling.
Then there is EDUCATION were we have spent BILLIONS and BILLIONS if not TRILLIONS of dollars with no increase in educational value as we spend more than most countries per student with far worse results for our money yet progressives/liberals think lack of funding is the problem?
Makes my head want to explode or my eyes bleed.
Our public schools are a mess and getting worse one unintended or intended consequence is that the successful solution the voucher system and charter schools are fought against by the unions and the political hacks who support them despite whether it is for the betterment of our children.
Progressives are ensconced in our schools and universities transforming a great school system in to a propaganda machine devoid of teaching critical thinking and other valuable creative skills as the politically correct as taken over common sense.
The media is guilty too as "Hollywood" has finally admitted its pushes a progressive agenda through TV and movies oh what a big surprise.
But the hypocrisies of the news media still goes on unchecked and at this point is laughable at the absurdity and demagoguery surrounding their constant drone against conservatives, conservative radio and Fox News.
They are fearful weak minded people who believe they hold the intellectual and moral high ground and project their fears and their own deeds on others through twisted criticism, out right lies and paranoia.
With Soros spending some 48 million dollars influencing progressive media we must take some action to stop support of those useful idiots he relies on.
I do not think any of us want to live in a George Soros world.
More progressive hypocrisies and pathologies to come some thing new every day - they just can not help themselves.
They are desperate after the rejection of their agenda last November.

The Coming Election
It is astounding that with todays economic problems the business of government is so big and the stakes are so high that Obama will try to raise ONE BILLION DOLLARS in his attempt to buy the presidency yet again.
Where does all that money come from?
Will current the fund raising investigations from his last election really go anywhere?
How is all that money spent - who receives it?
I contend if Obama was really as altruistic and progressive as he says he is he would donate that BILLION DOLLARS to all those oppressed peoples he claims to champion and help level the playing field because after all life is so unfair and SOMEONE has to keep us safe and protect us from ourselves.
So far all the president and his minions have offered up is the "old class warfare" routine and the standard Republicans are evil and want to starve seniors, kill women, prevent kids from going to college and all other evils in the country.
I think the American people see through that obvious and out dated playbook as the presidents approval ratings are not good.
There are so many issues to examine about this administration's abuses of power and it's undermining the foundation of the country the constitution.
I find it quite ironic that progressives/liberals whined and cried howled about the Bush administrations' spending, illegal wars, erosion of our privacy rights, etc. yet today we find our current administration has quadrupled down on the debt (in which demoRats controlled the congress since 2006 and should be responsible for part of Bush's folly), Obama has involved us in a third war with Libya with no approval and without asking congress (at least Bush asked first) and continues in both Iraq and Afghanistan even though he vowed to bring all our troops home from Iraq yeah right - the media just doesn't report on what is up there believe me we are FAR from out of that place, and we enjoy less privacy (patriot act is still around and even enhanced) while curtailing our liberties and freedoms through over regulation enacted through agencies and through executive orders because legislatively it can not pass - especially our economic freedoms are dissolving away as this current bunch are completely anti-small business they support the TAKERS not the MAKERS.
I believe Cass Sunstein is the MOST DANGEROUS man in the country.
This election boils down to the classic fight of the folks who support limited government and thus maximum liberty and freedom versus the folks who support big government and thus the nanny state and collectivism i.e. a false sense of security at the expense of our liberties and freedoms.
It is all about the MAKERS and the TAKERS.
Our bloated big government has been working extra hard to create an environment where they can achieve as many takers as possible through their economic policies and their regulatory policies but fear not they think they are all smarter than us and after all it is all about keeping us safe and protecting us from all the unfairness out there.
Their goal it would seem is to collapse the capitalists system (capitalism is the source of the unfairness) and to make as many of us as possible dependent on them so they can count on our vote!!!!
After all who would vote against their own self interest?
In this election year the independents/the silent majority/the Tea Parties/the Makers/those who support individualism and freedom must get out the VOTE we must be more visible, e-mail your congress person and senator, have honest and reality based conversations with your friends and family.
We must remember we OUTNUMBER them many times over.
WE are the MAJORITY - WE are the MAJORITY.
Remember the government works for us - WE are their BOSSES.
As such in order to set things right the "O" has got to GO!!!!!
The "ONE" is DONE!!!
The "ONE" is DONE!!!
The "O" must GO!!!!!!
Get out and VOTE for FREEDOM.

Liberals "can't get no Satisfaction"
In my continuing efforts to clarify fact from fiction of some common social misnomers (growing out of the Americans Generosity posts) I found a slue of articles or studies done on happiness, contentment, satisfaction in life.
It would appear that low and behold self proclaimed liberals have a very different life view than do self proclaimed conservatives.
Some of the people I have discussed these ideas with insist these are just labels or generalities.
Yes they are but the point is "SELF PROCLAIMED" whereby people interviewed or who took part in a study identified themselves.
They were not assigned anything.
This is not a generality it is a belief expressed by someone in response to questions.
I know liberals refuse to believe any of this because of the negative reaction I get while discussing these ideas with liberal friends.
For the group who is supposed to be so open-minded they exhibit quite the opposite when confronted with this information.
In reviewing the message of my last post the Generosity of Americans part 2 " you can not legislate charity it is a personal act."
Self proclaimed liberals seem to think charity is political and self proclaimed conservatives see it as a personal act.
It is a different mind set.
So while sp conservatives on par donate alot more money and time than sp liberals it only follows that there is also a difference in life view.

Smile if (and Only if) You're Conservative
You can look up the entire article so I will only quote some of the more interesting paragraphs.
I also want to include several others.
"A survey by the Pew Research Center shows conservatives are happier than liberals - in all income groups.
While 34% of all Americans call themselves "very happy" only 28% of liberal Democrats (and 31% of moderate or conservative Democrats) do, compared with 47% of conservative Republicans.
This finding is nifitly self-reinforcing: It depresses liberals."
"Election results do not explain this happiness gap. Republicans have been happier than Democrats every year since this survey began in 1972. Married people and religious people are especially disposed to happiness, and both cohorts vote more conservatively than does the nation as a whole."
It would seem that there is a paradox among conservatives which accounts for their overall happiness.
"Conservatives understand that society in its complexity resembles a giant Calder mobile - touch it here and things jiggle there, and there, and way over there too. Hence conservatives acknowledge the Law of Unintended Consequences, which is: The unintended consequences of bold government undertakings are apt to be larger than, and contrary to, the intended ones"
In the face of things this would seem to be rather pessimistic or is it really an expression of pragmatism of I believe living more in the moment.
Being centered where you are - not where you were - or where you want to go - but in the here and NOW.
Another component of this I believe is contentment or satisfaction.
Part of being in the now is contentment with ones self not fretting how unfair everything is.
"Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways.
First, they are rarely surprised - they are right more often than not about the course of events.
Second, when they are wrong, they are happy to be so.
Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes - government - they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself.
They believe that happiness is an activity - it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness."
"The right to pursue happiness is the essential right that government exists to protect.
Liberals, taking their bearings, whether they know it or not, from President Franklin Roosevelt's 1936 State of the Union address, think the attainment of happiness itself, understood in terms of security and material well-being, is an entitlement that government has created and can deliver."
That statement alone blows me away in that Roosevelt's intentions were and went far beyond the depression.
This probably accounts for present pervasive attitude of entitlement everyone seems to have in this country just because they are here????
Prime example of how liberalism could not account for this unfortunate unintended social consequence.

Why Conservatives Say They Are Happier Than Liberals
Q&A with Arthur Brooks, whose new book says the liberal agenda takes a personal toll.
This is worth quoting some of because Brooks' book is very interesting.
"What's the key to happiness? Liberals might tell you a hot latte, vivid expressions od diversity, and a copy of the New York Times. That doesn't sound bad, but in data mined for his new book, Gross National Happiness, by Arthur Brooks a professor of business and government at Syracuse University, finds that conservatives are twice as likely as liberals to say they are happy.
That's not necessarily because of politics but because they are statistically more likely to be married, go to church, and be optimistic about their future - boosting personal happiness.
For liberals, the rates are lower. The author suggests that while liberal equity agenda may be honorable, it exacts a personal toll. Indeed happiness is full of surprises: Political ideologues are positively joyful - by making others miserable. Brooks explains to US News the quirks and politics of happiness."
Why are liberals so bummed out?
"Liberals are more likely to feel like victims and feel that collective action is the best way to make things happen. That might be right, but it's a frustrating way to live. The Democratic Party is a coalition of oppressed groups. These are legitimate grivances in a lot of cases, but that does not make for a happy party."
And the interview goes on and Mr Brooks holds his own with a skeptical interviewer.

Conservatives more honest than liberals?
This is good.
Very explosive question for an election year.
But you will not hear about this in the main stream "LIBERAL" media.
"There is a striking gap between the manner in which liberals and conservatives address the issue of honesty."
"Consider the results."
"Is it OK to cheat on your taxes? A total of 57% of those who described themselves as "very Liberal" said yes in response to the World Value Survey, compared with only 20% of those who are "very conservative."
When Pew Research asked whether it was "morally wrong" to cheat Uncle Sam, 86% of conservatives agreed, compared with only 68% of liberals."
"The World Value Survey found that those on the left were also much more likely to say it is OK to buy stolen goods that you know are stolen. Studies have also found that those on the left were more likely to say it is OK to drink a can of soda in the store without paying for it and to avoid the truth while negotiating the price of a car."
And the examples go on and on right into the attitude of college students beliefs in ethics, or lack there of; cheating in school;etc.
"Liberals were more willing to "let others take the blame" for their own ethical lapses, "copy a published article" and pass it off as their own, and were more accepting of "cheating on an exam" according to still another study in the Journal of Business Ethics."
Witness Barack Obama and Joe Biden who think nothing of ripping off other peoples speeches as their own "LIARS"
"Now, I"m not suggesting that all conservatives are honest and all liberals are untrustworthy. But clearly a gap exists in the data. Why? The quick answer might be that liberals are simply more honest about their dishonesty."
"However attractive this explaination might be for some, there is simply no basis for accepting this explanation. Validation studies, which attempt to figure out who misreports on academic surveys and why, has found no evidence that conservatives are less honest. Indeed, validation research indicates that Democrats tend to be LESS forthcoming than other groups."
Here is the crux of the matter.
"The honesty gap is also not a result of "bad people" becoming liberals and "good people" becoming conservatives. In my mind, a more likely explanation is bad ideas. Modern liberalism is infused with the idea that truth is relative. Surveys consistently show this. And if truth is relative, it also must follow that honesty is subjective."
“The great enemy of clear language is insincerity. When there is a gap between one’s real and one’s declared aims, one turns as it were instinctively to long words and exhausted idioms, like a cuttlefish spurting out ink.- George Orwell

Generosity of Americans part 2

In my continuing quest to uncover misnomers which pervade our culture I found this article on the net I want to share with you.
American Spectator
Liberal Scrooges by Peter Schweizer (published 6/6/2008)
For those of you who want to read more:
Peter Schweizer is a fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University and the author of a new book:
Makers and Takers: Why Conservatives Work Harder, Feel Happier, Have Closer Families, Take Fewer Drugs, Give More Generously, Value Honesty More, Are Less Materialistic And Envious, Whine Less.........and Even Hug Their Children More Than Liberals (Doubleday).
Samuel Johnson once reported on a man who was privately stingy but publicly touted the merits of sharing. Dr. Johnson said sarcastically that the man was a "friend of goodness". What he meant was that flesh-and-blood goodness is very different from supporting "Goodness" in the abstract.
Many modern liberals like to openly discuss their altruism. Garrison Keillor explains that "I am liberal and liberalism is the politics of kindness." But it rarely seems to turn into acts of kindness, especially when it comes to making charitable donations.
Consider the case of Andrew Cuomo, current New York Attorney General and advocate for the homeless. He has, according to his website, " compassion toward the most vulnerable of us." And this how the New York Times described the courtship of Kerry Kennedy (of guess which family): "Ms. Kennedy-Cuomo, 43 said she fell in love with Mr. Cuomo, 45 when he took her on tour of a homeless shelter on their first date and agreed to fast for the labor leader Cesar Chavez."
But advocacy should not be confused with actually giving to the less fortunate. Cuomo was a homeless advocate throughout the 1990's, but according to his own tax returns he made NO charitable contributions between 1996 and 1999. In 2000 he donated a whopping $2,750. In 2004 and 2005, Cuomo had more than $1.5 million in adjusted gross income but gave a paltry $2,000 to charity.
Cuomo made no charitable contributions in 2003, when his income was a bit less than $300,000.
CUOMO IS NOT alone in this Scroogery of course. Barack Obama has a rather poor track record when it comes to charitable contributions. He consistently gave 1% of his income to charity. In his most charitable year, 2005 he earned $1.7 million (two and half times what George W. Bush earned) but gave about the same dollar amount as the President.
The last two Democratic Party nominees for President have come up short on the charity scale. Al Gore has been famously stingy when it comes to actually giving his own money to charities. In 1998 he was embarrassed when his tax returns revealed that he gave just $353 to charity.
Gore's office initially defended the action, claiming that the Gores had often given "food and clothing to the homeless." But when no one showed up in cast-off clothes, Gore's spokesman Chris Lehane offered a typical "friend of Goodness" response saying that you could only "truly judge a person's commitment to helping others" you needed to see "what they have done with their lives." In other words, POLITICS was charity work.
Senator John Kerry likewise has a poor record. In 1995 he gave zero to charity, but did spend $500,000 to buy a half stake in a seventeenth century painting. In 1993, he gave $175 to the needy. Later, of course, Kerry married the rich widow Theresa Heinz, and today is active in charitable causes using the Heinz foundation as his vehicle.
Senator Ted Kennedy has clearly relished his role over the years as a liberal Robin Hood. He once told Al Hunt of the Wall Street Journal, "I come from an advantaged life, and I'll be goddamned if I'm get re-elected to the US Senate by taking food out of the mouths of needy children." But this should not be confused with Senator Kennedy actually giving money to needy children.
Kennedy's tax returns are obviously a closely guarded secret. But when he chose to run for President in the 1970's, he released some of them. With a net worth of more than $8 million in the early 1970's and an income of $461,444 from a series of family trusts, Senator Robin Hood gave barely 1% of his income to charity. The sum is about as much as Kennedy claimed as a write-off on his 55 foot sailing sloop Curragh.
Robert Reich, once Bill Clinton's Secretary of Labor and now professor at Berkley, has been outspoken about how greedy conservatives are. Conservatives believe in "reviving social Darwinism" and because of conservatives, "America has placed to high a value on selfishness."
But when he ran for governor of Massachusetts in 2002, he was forced to release his tax returns. It's not a pretty picture. Reich's 1040 reveals an income of more than $1 million, much of it giving speeches to corporations and universities for up to $40,000 a pop. He contributed just $2,714 to charity or .2% of his income - note the decimal - and not all of that was cash. Part of it was the value of a donation of a used drum set to an organization calle City of Peace.
Jesse Jackson has often claimed that he operates from a "liberal spirit of compassion and love" while conservatives are "heartless and uncaring toward the silent poor." But according to his publicly released tax returns, he regularly donates less than 1% to charity.
Jackson and his family have also established a charitable foundation called the Jackson Foundation to support the underprivileged. According to tax records, the foundation board is controlled by family members and they receive large contributions from corporations like McDonalds, Anheuser-Busch, and GMAC.
When asked on the tax form to decribed "direct charitable activities, " the foundation responded: "none." From the close to million dollars collected, they gave away only $46,000 to a couple of colleges. The Jackson Foundation spent nearly twice that amount - $84,172 - on a "gala celebration" in honor of - you guessed it - Jesse Jackson.
NOR IS THIS liberal tightfistedness anything new. The greatest liberal icon of the 20th Century is Franklin Delano Roosevelt. He is regarded by many on the left as the personification of charity and compassion, but FDR actually has a silm record when it comes to giving to charity.
Roosevelt has an average income of $93,000 ($1.3 million in todays money) but gave away about 3% of his income to charity. In 1935, during the height of the Great Depression, when people really could have used it, he donated just 2%.
The evidence of liberal hypocrisy is damning enough, but what really amazes is how poorly these liberal do in comparison to so-called "heartless conservatives."
President Ronald Reagan, for instance, was often called heartless and callous by liberals.
Unlike Roosevelt or JFK , Regan was not a wealthy man when he became president. He had no family trust or investment portfolio to fall back on.
And yet, according to his tax returns, Reagan donated more than FOUR TIMES more to charity - both in terms of actual money and on a percentage basis - than Senator Ted Kennedy.
And he gave more to charity with less income than FDR did. In 1985, for example, he gave away 6% of his income.
George W. Bush and Dick Cheney have continued this Reagan record. During the early 1990's, George W. Bush regularly gave away more than 10% of his income. In 2005, Vice President Dick Cheney gave away 77% of his income to charity. He was actually criticized by some liberal blogers for this, who claimed he was getting too much tax deduction.
The main point of liberal compassion appears to be making liberals feel good about their superior virtue.
Such are the rewards of being a "friend of goodness."
These misnomers have to be made more public.
I am soooooo tried of liberal whining and the people who I have the chance to question who are liberal are do nothings and give nothings or very little.
Why is it so hard to understand that EVERY person has to take responsibility for themselves and that CHARITY is a PERSONAL PRIVATE act and NOT A POLITICAL act.
LIBERALS should be responsible for themselves first and not shove responsibility off on the government like in other instances such as the increase in parental responsibility being shoved off on our teachers and the people WONDER why schools are poor and nobody wants to be a teacher anymore. (besides lousy pay which needs to be increased for sure)
SUPPORT: Peter Schweizer and buy his book it seems to be well worth the read I am going to and will report later.
I have also been gathering info on Happy and Honesty as it pertains to Conservatives and Liberals which will be my next post.

The generosity of Americans.
This all started two weekends ago while at breakfast with two friends who boldly stated that America is such a bad place - we do not care about the public welfare etc....I remarked that this was not true that in fact Americans are the most generous people on the planet.
Of course I was challenged - which started my research you will find here.
Let me preface by saying I am so sick of hearing what a bad, hostile, warmongering, fearful place America is.
The mainstream media in this country is so anti "Bush" they will stop at nothing to get Obama elected.
The Democrats are also so bent out of shape that they are espousing the usual "we care more" to try and win.
I only hope the American public is smart enough to see through this rouse - for in my opinion electing Barack Obama will only lead to
- huge tax increases
- less private giving of money and time
- not to mention innovation and entrepreneurial-ship suffering
- lead to the same sort of socialism that exists in Europe.
There are of course so many other issues to speak to Healthcare, Energy, Immigration, etc.
First let's talk American Generosity.
I started with the National Philanthropic Trust and followed the threads from there including "Who Really Cares: The Surprising Truth About Compassionate Conservatism" by Arthur C Brooks, a professor at Syracuse University.
Here are the facts:
Last year 89% of all American households donated money: On average $1,620
In 2006 that sum reached 295 BILLION dollars and in 2007 the sum has gone over 300 billion dollars.
83% of those who donated money said they felt it was important to give some thing back to society.
In 2006 Corporate Foundation donated 4.2 BILLION dollars.(Do you think this number will remain so high should corporate taxes double?)
There are 1,o10,400 charitable organizations in America.
55% of all Americans volunteer.
This represents approximately 83.9 million Americans who gave time equalling 9 million full time jobs at a value of over 239 BILLION dollars.
No developed country in the world approaches American giving.
For example:
- Americans gave 3.5 times more than the French
- Americans gave 7 times more than the Germans
- Americans gave 14 times more than the Italians
- Americans volunteer 15% more than the Dutch
- Americans volunteer 21% more than the Swiss
- Americans volunteer 32% more than the Germans
Statistics show:
Europeans who are subject to high taxes and much more socialization overwhelmingly believe the government should cover what Americans GIVE of themselves.
It turns out donations are not just done for the tax break either. It's true that the total amount of taxes not paid because of donations is huge: in fact it represents the single largest government matching grant program ever created.
Still tax deductibility is largely irrelevant for most people.
The IRS record shows that only about a third of all people file itemized tax returns with donations - which translates to most Americans(particularly middle-lower income groups) do not take advantage of their legal entitlement.
Of households who earn $120k or more only 40% itemize their donations.
Other interesting related attitudes:
People who gave time and money are 2 times more likely to donate blood.
They are 3 times more likely to give food or money to the homeless.
They are 3 times more likely to give up their seat on the bus or subway.
I wondered who are these generous Americans?
How do they break down in terms of our society or culture?
Is it an economic factor or perhaps religious?
The answers will surprise you - I was very surprised at what I found.
The statistics I found are from 2000:
"Religious people" make up 33% of our population attend a house of worship at least once a week or more are 25 percentage points more likely to donate to charity than a "secularist" who are 27% of the population and attend a house of worship only a few times a year or have no religion at all.
The same goes for the volunteer rate.
But what does this really mean?
It means "religious people" gave FOUR times more dollars than "secularists":
$2,210 vs $642 (very poor showing for liberals but I am getting ahead of myself)
"Religious people" volunteer TWO times as often as "secularists" or 12 times a year vs 5.8 times per year.
Also in 2000:
- Families who earned 20k or less gave on average $450
- Families who earned 100k or more gave on average a little more than $3000
- The top 10% (those evil rich) households gave 25% of all the donations made.
I still was not satisfied with what I had found and the next logical thread was to see what role values play in all this and BINGO it was like striking gold.
What do guess that would be but of course:
This is were it gets really good.
Remember this is has to do with generosity not political issues per say.
Conservatives vs Liberals:
The stereotype that "liberals" - the caring; want to help the disadvantaged; the suffering; the poor; elevate the public welfare in FACT donate less TIME and less MONEY than "conservatives".
"self described conservatives" in America in fact are more likely to donate money than "self described liberals".
"Conservatives" gave on average 30% more than "Liberals".
This is not an artifact of income difference because on average liberals earn 6% more than conservatives.
This attitude pervades other areas as we saw before.
In 2002 blood donations:
Conservatives are more likely to give blood yearly and did so more than liberals.
In fact the "Extreme Conservatives" (religious right?) who are one fifth of our population donated 25% of the total blood supply.
Image that!!!!
Politically speaking it is interesting to muse that if liberals and moderates in this country donated as much blood as conservatives the entire blood supply would increase by over a half and no longer be a social problem.
This lead me to the idea of Private giving vs Taxation.
It is a fact look it up that $1 privately given tends to increase the GDP by about $15 which is an excellent rate of return.
80% of self described liberals think the government should "do more" to reduce income inequality compared with 27% of self described conservatives.
I would submit that this is the reason besides religion why conservatives give more than liberals.
In 1996 conservatives gave 4 to 1 over liberals.
Wait a minute weren't those the golden years of prosperity under Bubba - where were all the liberals then ?
Over taxed? Maybe?
This stat is unbelievable:
In 2002 people who stated the government was spending "to little" on the public welfare were less likely than those who stated that the government is "spending to much" on the public welfare to give food or money to a homeless person.
Go figure - what is going on here?
So should our government expand to cover current private giving through taxation as is done in Europe?
- the evidence states that giving makes people feel GOOD-Happy it is a chemical reaction which occurs in the brain.
- more importantly - private giving is implicated in ECONOMIC GROWTH. (remember Regan's trickle down effect)
Per-capita charity and per-capita GDP move together and has been plotted overs the years.
Analysis shows a 10% increase in the GDP per person would lead to a 9% rise in charitable giving.
Likewise a 10% increase in giving per person will provoke a 3% increase in the GDP.
Again ONE dollar privately given increases the GDP by about FIFTEEN dollars.
Finally to sum up:
If we substitute our private our charitable giving for government redistribution programs we will pay in terms of Economic Growth; Personal Prosperity; and even HAPPINESS.
Think about it?
Do you know any HAPPY Europeans?
I lived there for six years and the only happy Europeans I know are the RICH ones.
So much for the European model.
In short our country is the MOST generous country in the world and I am really tried of the bad rap we receive from abroad but more so from our own citizens.
Stop complaining and bitching and as an INDIVIDUAL get off your ass VOLUNTEER give your time and money that is how we solve social problems.
Therefore I would propose that if all the liberals in this country would donate as much TIME and MONEY as conservatives we could solve a lot of our social ills.
Closing Facts:
donate money- volunteer-donate non-religious-volunteer non-religious
conservatives 91% 68% 71% 65%
liberals 66% 44% 61% 39%
